RLI Summer Meeting a Big Hit!

The 2010 Zone 33 RLI Summer Meeting took place in Cary NC on July 30-31. The theme for the event was a baseball theme, with an outing at the ballpark Friday night as the Carolina Mudcats hosted the Jacksonville (FL) Suns.

The event included a solid 47 Faculty and 10 guests for a day and a half of brushing up on facilitation skills, some job-specific training, and Rotary fellowship.

Chair RC Bevin Wall introduced the 2010-11 Board Members, Regional Coordinators, District RLI Chairs, and the functional positions of the Institute. Highlights of the event included a presentation by Past RI Director Ken Morgan on trends in Training at Rotary International, comments by Past RI Vice President Eric Adamson, and a luncheon address by outgoing Board Vice-Chair PDG Sue Poss, one of the original Board Members of Zone 33 RLI.

Several breakout sessions occurred as the Faculty worked on preparation and the division of responsibility between the Board, the Regional Coordinators and the District RLI Chairs. Saturday morning demonstrations of facilitation techniques also occurred.

10 new faculty were trained in a module that ran separately from the main group during the weekend. New faculty were immersed in personality style based instruction techniques and were encouraged to be active in the Faculty during the upcoming Rotary year.
