Norfolk VA RLI a Success

The Norfolk VA RLI held March 24, 2012 was deemed highly successful by organizers and participants alike.

All three sessions of the Institute were held at Virginia Wesleyan College in District 7600, Norfolk, Virginia. Forty-six Rotarians participated. There were sixteen Graduates, and certificates were presented by PDG and District 7600 Chair Jayne Sullivan to each graduating participant. The event was coordinated by Zone 33 RLI Regional Coordinator Bob Stallworth. Photos in the embedded video were taken by Kim Garey, one of the facilitators, as was a group photo with current District 7600 Governor Jim Bynum.

Emphasize Combined Wisdom

As a way to emphasize the skills, knowledge, and experiences of your participants, consider doing this “combined wisdom” icebreaker from trainerbubble.com:

On a flip chart at the front of the room, list each participant’s years of experience, and add up the numbers. Then, when talking about the key challenges facing the group in regard to the training or the topic to be discussed refer to the group’s combined years of experience and shared wisdom. Begin to test their ability to respond to the challenges. Refer to this number throughout the session as you develop action suggestions for participants to take away. From Rotary Training Talk.
