RLI Executive Director Bevin Wall shared some of the following comments with District 7710 Governor Newman Aguilar and his Leadership Team during their District Leadership Team Meeting on February 1, 2016.
Thank you so much for allowing me a few minutes on your very jam packed agenda for last night's meeting in Cary. As I said, it brought me back, in that the Cary Chamber of Commerce was the site of our first RLI in your district, over ten years ago!
It was an amazing feeling to see the overwhelming show of support for the program, evidenced by the fact that everyone in the room, more than 20 participants, raised their hand when I asked if they had been to an RLI session, and most of them, in fact, had graduated. The phrase "preaching to the choir" comes to mind.
As stated, we are promoting the following ideas:
- AGs to promote RLI to clubs using our new video and powerpoint, but mainly speaking from their own experience...
- Clubs to be encouraged to financially subsidize the cost of attendance and promote those opportunities;
- Districts to incentivize RLI attendance by making it part of your awards scheme and planning;
We consider District 7710, as our home base for Division activity and training, to be the heart of our RLI in many respects. Thank you again for your continued support as a member district of RLI.
- District to consider opportunities to financially subsidize the cost of attendance and promote those opportunities, via scholarships, split costs plan, etc.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your Rotarians' experience in RLI better or more effective.
