A Great Bowie MD RLI

The Bowie Rotary Leadership Institute is now in the books. We had a great turnout with 3 new graduates from Part 3 of RLI – Donna Cook (South Arundel County), Linda Lymas (Lexington Park) and Yvonne Carr (Capitol Hill). All three parts had a lot of fun Rotarians willing to share great ideas and coming from as far away as Danville, VA (check it on the map!). The lunch wasn’t too bad, either.

One club, the RC of Lexington Park, met the new 4-4-3 reimbursement policy – 4 from same club attend the same RLI, Mid-Atlantic RLI will reimburse for one. 4 attend for price of 3 – abbreviated as "4-4-3". As a note to other Districts, 7620 has a "3-4-2" policy for Part I attendance – 3 from same club attend the same RLI Part I, the club will get reimbursed for one. 3 for 2 – hence"3-4-2".

Even if your not that good in math, it’s easy to register. Go to and click on Event Registration. Scroll down to November 18th – Frederick and click on the Part you want to take. Scroll (one more time) to Frederick and the Part you want to take. Click on the Highlighted link “Register Now – Individual Registration”. Article by Bob Parkinson & RLI Staff.

RLI Announces 4-4-3 Program

Effective immediately, MA RLI has implemented the new “Four for Three” (4-4-3) Incentive Program that applies to all Division RLI events except Mini-RLIs (Mini-RLI Policy remains applicable for these events). The policy is set up to reimburse Rotary clubs who send four or more of their Rotarians to a single RLI Event, no matter which Parts these Rotarians attend. For each four attending the single RLI event from a club, one Rotarian’s registration fee will be refunded to that club’s treasurer by the Division Treasurer. All registrations must be paid in advance.

For example, if the Rotary Club of Anytown, VA sends five Rotarians to Part I of an RLI event taking place at Hometown, VA, and two Rotarians to Part II of the Hometown event, and one to Part III of this event, the Rotary Club of Anytown Treasurer will receive a check for two registration fees ($190) from the Division Treasurer within 30 days of the Hometown RLI event.

Please share this good news with your District leadership and District Assistant Governors so the clubs can receive word about this new attendance incentive program. Thank you! RLI Staff.

Problem? Solution. RLI. It Made All the Difference!

We've all be thrown into a job or situation at some time or another that we didn't feel prepared for or were just uncomfortable about. See how this Club President Elect put RLI to work for her and her club. See Marie's full post here.

Rotarians Successfully Challenged in Greenville NC RLI

Event Photos. The twenty-five students who attended the Rotary Leadership Institute Training Program in Greenville, NC, September 17 finished the challenging day as enthusiastic about the program as when they entered in the morning. As one attendee put it, “The faculty and staff kept us challenged all day long. The classes were fun and we did not realize how much we were learning at the same time. There were a lot of ideas that I learned from fellow students that I will take back to my club. Those ideas ranged from small changes to our meetings to some very profound thoughts on how to raise funds. The campus at Pitt Community College was ideal for learning.”

Several of the Rotarians attending were from outside District 7720. The RLI program is consistent throughout all of the Rotary Districts so that training occurring in one district will be the same as in another district. This allows the Rotarian to complete all three courses in less time by only having to travel a few miles more to attend an out-of-district program. If you want to learn more about Rotary than you already know, pick up some good ideas for your club, be kept up-to-date on what is taking place at Rotary International, and be with some great and enthusiastic people, sign up for RLI.

A special thanks to Rotarians who assisted: PDG Lee & Ed Adams, Pitt County Interact Club with Advisor - Lauren Piner, District Training Chair - Crystal Ange, PP Frank Maynard, DGE Stan Keeler, PP Mary Vincent, DG Jim Findley. Submitted by Dave Iery, District 7720 RLI Chair.

Charlottesville VA RLI IS Fantastic!

District 7610 hosted a Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) event in Charlottesville on February 11th, 2017. The event was the first full RLI event in the Charlottesville area and was a great success with participants from district 7610, 7600, and 7570. There were nine graduates from the RLI series at the weekend and three of those 7610 Rotarians were the first graduates from their clubs: Brad Bodager (Charlottesville), Shannon Heath (Gainesville-Haymarket), and Sun Saunders (Gloucester Point). Many thanks to AG Wayne Murphy and Rotarian John Donnelly who made facility arrangements as well as incoming AG Steve Radich who will take over as RLI Chair for 7610 in Rotary year 2017-2018.

The next Virginia RLI event will be on March 18th, where all three parts will be offered. Please go to for registration or contact Hayward Hull for any questions.
